Ramadan Kareem – Volunteer/Donate!

Donate today to help your Muslim neighbors break their fast during Ramadan and/or volunteer today to help us give out dates! Update: All volunteer spots are filled!

Ramadan is a sacred holiday in the Muslim religion. This year, Ramadan starts at the end of May and lasts throughout most of June. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the main pillars of Islam. Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, and at dusk, the traditional way to break the daily fast is by eating dates.

#unitecloud is raising funds to give boxes of dates to local Muslim families this Ramadan – and we need your help. Just $20 will provide dates to an average size family! With your generosity, we can meet our goal of providing over 200 boxes of sweet, juicy dates to local families.

As of June 2nd we have raised $530 and have used that money to purchase over 50 boxes of dates which we handed out to our Muslim neighbors at the Central MN Islamic Center in St. Cloud before Friday prayer! We were hoping to pass some out after prayer as well, but we ran out as the call to prayer started.

“How much for the dates?” one person said.

“Free” we said.

“Why?” they said, looking shocked.

“Because we’re neighbors. Ramadan Kareem!”

Here’s how you can help:

1. Donate today! Please visit our GiveMN project page today by clicking here. And, please share this blog or our Give MN project website so that your friends and family can help us reach our goal as well.

2. Volunteer to give out dates with us one of the next 3 Friday afternoons (June 2nd, 9th, 16th) from 1-3pm. One person from the #unitecloud will be there to show you the ropes! Click here to sign up today.

3. Have your faith, civic, or business group sponsor one of our 3 days by donating $500 and/or providing 2-4 volunteers! Contact Natalie Ringsmuth, our Executive Director, if you are interested in this option via e-mail (natalie@unitecloud.org) or phone (404.422.0290).

Thank you for joining with us this Ramadan to show love and respect for our Muslim neighbors!
